Endowment

After securing economic stability and providing for the needs of your loved ones, you may choose to make a lasting charitable impact with a bequest to The Night Ministry.
Endowment

Gifts to The Night Ministry’s endowment help ensure we will continue to be there with housing, medical care, and supportive services for those who turn to us when they have nowhere else to go.

About Our Endowment
Through careful and effective management of the endowment, The Night Ministry maintains a balance between our needs of today and the needs of the future.

In 2010, The Night Ministry established an endowment, the purpose of which is to provide for the long-term sustainability of our programs. The Board of Directors seeded the endowment with an initial allocation of $200,000 from an unexpected, unrestricted major gift. Since then, the balance has increased to $2.7 million, largely as a result of Board policy requiring that any unrestricted revenue derived from bequests or estates be placed in the endowment. Three donor-restricted gifts have also been made to the Endowment.

The Board’s Endowment Committee meets quarterly to fulfill its responsibility for oversight and management of the Endowment. Until the balance reaches $5 million, funds cannot be withdrawn to support our programs. Growing the Endowment is a focus of the Strategic Plan’s aim to ensure The Night Ministry’s financial health well into the future.

Ways to contribute include the following –

Bequest in your will:
Direct a specific bequest of money or an asset (i.e. stock) to The Night Ministry

Designate a percentage of the total value of the estate:
Designate a residual bequest which directs that The Night Ministry receive the remainder of the estate, or a portion of the remainder, after all expenses and other bequests have been made

Retirement Plans:
Any or all of the balance in IRAs, 401(k)s, and other retirement savings plans can be donated to nonprofit organizations. Please consider making The Night Ministry a full or partial beneficiary.

Life Insurance Policies, Trusts, and Certificates of Deposit:
The Night Ministry can be named as a whole or partial beneficiary under life insurance policies, trusts, and Certificates of Deposits (CDs). “I’ve long been struck by the compassion and creativity of The Night Ministry, and by the courage of those who depend on it for a safe and supportive community. Sharing my estate with The Night Ministry is my way of helping young people become the people they are called to be.”

— Sharon Johnson, Legacy Society Member
