Serve & Learn Projects. A staff member from The Night Ministry will give a 10–15-minute presentation (in-person at your location, at our headquarters at 1735 N. Ashland Ave, Chicago or virtually) and then lead the group in a service project. We will bring the completed project back to our office and distributed it to our clients!
The number of participants will determine how many supplies you will need to purchase. Here’s an example for reference: A group of 20 people can assemble about 400 hygiene kits or 200 sack suppers in about 1.5 hours! Pricing varies a lot, depending on which project you select and the types of items you include in your project. Estimates can range from $500-$1,500. Sack Suppers are approximately $2.50 each, when purchasing from Costco or Jewel, Hygiene Kits are typically $1 each when items are bought in bulk.
To schedule a Serve & Learn, or schedule a donation pick up or drop off, please contact Maya, our Resource Coordinator, at volunteer@thenightministry.org.
Sack Suppers
Click here for instructions on making sack suppers. You’re not required to provide all the items listed, but we encourage you to be as generous as possible for our clients who are unhoused or experiencing poverty.
Hygiene Kits
The Night Ministry recognizes that keeping clean is an important part of being healthy and retaining dignity while facing homelessness. Hygiene kits are distributed by our Health Outreach and Youth Outreach teams to our unhoused neighbors. Click here to learn more.
