The Night Ministry is pleased to announce new Board Leadership, welcome two new board members, and recognize longtime leaders whose service has helped advance its mission across Chicago and Illinois. These changes went into effect on July 1.
Bennett Applegate, Jr. will serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors. An attorney and a former Northwestern Kellogg Fellow at The Night Ministry, he will lead a new slate of officers that includes Dana Ringer, Vice Chair; Dave Berger, Secretary; and Ralitza Todorova, Treasurer. Together, they bring a wealth of experience, expertise, and commitment to the organization’s work, providing human connection, healthcare, and housing to people experiencing homelessness and poverty.
Joining the board this year are Joyce Chacko and Marybeth Kravetz, two accomplished leaders whose diverse backgrounds and dedication to community service will help strengthen The Night Ministry’s governance and support its strategic priorities.

With heartfelt gratitude, The Night Ministry recognizes Michael V. Borromeo as he concludes three years of service as Board Chairman. During his tenure, Michael guided the organization through strategic growth, strengthened Board governance, and launched initiatives in celebration of the 50th Anniversary. He provided strong leadership and support, helping the organization navigate several significant milestones and challenges. His influence will continue to have a lasting impact.
Honoring more than 25 years of distinguished service on the board of directors, W. Gordon Addington has been named Director Emeritus.
The Director Emeritus designation is reserved for individuals whose leadership, service, and advocacy have made an enduring effect on The Night Ministry. Throughout his quarter-century of involvement, Gordon has played a vital role in the organization’s growth and strengthening its ability to serve so many people in need.
As The Night Ministry builds on 50 years of service to the most vulnerable communities in Chicago, these leadership transitions continue to shape its legacy while positioning the organization for its next chapter of impact.
