The Night Ministry provides a vital first step toward safety and stable housing.

16,000 young adults ages 14 to 24 are on the streets of Chicago alone.

Our Services

Youth Outreach

The Night Ministry’s Youth Outreach Team (YOT) meets and builds relationships with youth and young adults experiencing homelessness on the streets, in schools, at drop-in programs, and other locations across Chicago. Our Youth Outreach Team identifies youth and young adults living on the streets or at-risk of becoming homeless and helps them meet their basic needs through resources and referrals. The Crib provides young adults ages 18 through 24 with safe and supportive overnight emergency shelter, as well as life and leadership development skills.

Call 773-506-3122 or email yot@thenightministry.org to reach youth outreach.

Case Management

Homelessness and poverty can be incredibly isolating and lonely experiences. That is why it is essential that we build accepting, non-judgmental, and caring relationships with every individual whom we serve. Our Case Management Team listens closely to each person’s story and is available to all ages. We provide practical resources such as a path to housing, government-issued IDs, and services such as SNAP.

Short-Term and Long-Term Housing

Our Youth Housing Services provides interim, transitional, and long-term housing solutions that include life skills coaching to youth and young adults (ages 14-24). At the Pathways Transitional Living Program, young adults build independent living skills with up to two years of supportive housing. The program offers both a congregative living setting and housing in apartments located in the community. The Flexible Housing Pool for Youth (ages 18-25) provides subsidies for market-rate rental apartments, along with case management services, to help stabilize young adults who have experienced homelessness in the community. The program is a partnership between The Night Ministry, the Center for Housing and Health, and other area nonprofits.

Outreach & Health

Our Outreach and Health Ministry Program provides services to individuals and families where they live. Our specially designed Health Outreach Bus features a fully equipped nurse’s office and brings basic medical care and a sense of community to individuals and families five days a week across Chicago. Additionally, our outreach van travels the city responding to clients’ needs.

Parenting with Purpose

Our Parenting with Purpose program empowers pregnant and young mothers, ages 16-22, to build stable, thriving futures for themselves and their children. Through our family-centered approach, young mothers find a safe place to call home, along with the resources, skills, and support they need to succeed. We provide a clear path to independent housing and help each young parent develop the confidence and capabilities to create lasting stability for their family.
