The Night Ministry Celebrates 50 Years of Service at Anniversary Gala & Fundraiser
(Chicago, IL – April 20, 2026) More than 450 community advocates, partners, and supporters of The Night Ministry converged at The Geraghty on Saturday, April 18, to celebrate the organization’s 50th Anniversary Gala, a landmark event commemorating five decades of compassionate service to people experiencing homelessness and poverty.
Centered on the theme “A Legacy of Care, A Future of Hope,” the evening reflected on The Night Ministry’s history of meeting people where they are, offering human connection, housing, and healthcare, while looking ahead to a future rooted in equity, dignity, and expanded impact across Chicago and beyond.
The unforgettable celebration was hosted by three time Emmy Award winning entertainment and lifestyle journalist and Chicago media legend Dean Richards, who guided guests through an inspiring program honoring the organization’s past, present, and future.For 50 years, The Night Ministry has been a steadfast presence on Chicago’s streets and in its communities. Over that time, the organization has:
- Cared for more than 100,000 people
- Delivered 1.2 million contacts with individuals served
- Provided 280,000 bed nights through youth housing programs
- Saved the Chicago and Illinois medical systems nearly $20 million through mobile health and outreach services
The evening also included the presentation of two distinguished honors. The Beacon Award was presented to Maree Bullock in recognition of outstanding leadership and vision that have strengthened the organization’s work. The Lamplighter Award was presented to Northern Trust for its enduring partnership and dedication to illuminating pathways for unhoused youth. Sharday Hamilton, a former client and community advocate, shared her inspirational story and the impact that The Night Ministry had on her life.
