Miles with Meaning
Do you need help accessing housing, health care or other services? The Night Ministry and other Chicago-based organizations are here to help. Use this list of resources for assistance.
Carmilla Kupritz had always believed that running was about more than just covering ground. So, when she organized the 4x4x48 challenge — four miles, every four hours, for 48 hours straight — she wasn’t just testing her limits. She was running for something bigger.
Forty-eight miles. No real sleep. Just pavement, purpose, and a community rallying behind every step.
Alongside her dedicated team, Carmilla pushed through fatigue, early mornings, and late nights with one goal in mind: raising funds for The Night Ministry. With the generous support of partners Lululemon, BTS Chicago, The Robey, and Everything Bar, the challenge became something extraordinary — raising over $8,300 in total.
“Moving my body for a purpose just feels really good, for me,” Carmilla said simply, summing up what drove her forward when every muscle screamed to stop.
For the runners who laced up, the donors who gave, and the partners who believed in the mission, this was more than a fitness challenge. It was proof that our neighbors, moving together with intention, can make a real difference for those who need it most.
