(Chicago, IL — May 11, 2026) The Night Ministry has received a $25,000 grant from SC Johnson to support The Crib, the organization’s overnight emergency shelter serving young adults ages 18–24 who are experiencing homelessness. The grant will help strengthen critical shelter operations and services that ensure young people have a safe place to sleep and access to wraparound support during times of crisis.

Celebrating its 15th anniversary, The Crib is one of Chicago’s first overnight emergency shelters specifically designed for unaccompanied young adults. Operating every night of the year, The Crib provides a warm, safe, and affirming environment where youth can rest indoors, receive meals, access hygiene supplies, and connect with case management and supportive services. Its success has highlighted the critical need—and feasibility—of providing overnight shelter specifically for young adults, inspiring greater investment and collaboration within the city’s youth homelessness response system.

“The Crib exists because every young person deserves safety, stability, and compassion,” said Felitha Jones-Patterson, the Director of Youth Programs and Residential Services at The Night Ministry. “We are deeply grateful to SC Johnson for their generous partnership, which helps us continue providing lifesaving shelter and meaningful connections that empower youth to pursue brighter futures.”

The Night Ministry’s youth programs emphasize individualized support tailored to each young person’s needs, reduce barriers to housing, and create opportunities for young people to thrive.
