Our Outreach and Health Ministry Program provides accessible, confidential, and compassionate basic health care to individuals and families who might be unable or ineligible to obtain services elsewhere. Our bilingual team serves anyone without concern for race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
Our Health Outreach Bus visits seven different communities six days a week. In the Bus’s fully equipped nurse’s office, our Nurse Practitioners diagnose and provide treatment for infections, wounds, allergies, colds, the flu, asthma, and other ailments.
We also offer rapid testing for HIV, syphilis and hepatitis C, referrals for housing and supportive services, safe sex kits, socks, underwear, winter gear like hats, gloves, and hand warmers, and hygiene kits with soap, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and other essential items. Guests will also find a meal, coffee, and supportive, nonjudgmental relationships. All services, supplies, and food are free.
The Night Ministry offers free, confidential testing for HIV and sexually transmitted infections, including syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia, as well as some health care services at locations in Chicago’s North, West, and South Sides.
Launched in 2016, The Night Ministry’s innovative Street Medicine Program addresses the dire needs of some of the most vulnerable members of our community. A Nurse Practitioner, Case Manager, and Outreach Professional bring free medical care, food, hygiene items, and survival supplies like blankets, gloves, underwear, and socks directly to individuals living in more than 30 encampments across Chicago. The Team builds supportive relationships with clients, making weekly well-being checks while providing treatment and medication for such conditions as asthma, skin and sinus infections, colds, and the flu, as well as health education and links to supportive services.
