The youth who seek services from our Interim Housing Program are young men and young women ages 14 to 20. Youth end up on the street or leave home largely because of factors beyond their control, because their home life is not meeting their basic needs or due to extensive problems at the home.
Some reasons youth become homeless include family economics, conflict over their sexual orientation, gender identity or pregnancy. Youth may have aged out of foster care and lack the resources they need to make it on their own. Some of the youth may still have connections to family members who are unable to house them. Often the youth who come to our Interim Program have lacked the support and guidance that teenagers need during a crucial time in human development.
